Posted By Betsy Richter on September 18th, 2009

Because I’m all about the details, I’m sending out one final reminder about just where WebTrends is, what you’ll need to know about parking and building access, and some travel advisories we already know about. I’ve sprinkled it with some editorial opinions and advice — if you’re a local, please feel free to [...]

FAQ

Tickets are gone? CRAP! How can I still get in….?

Sorry that you weren’t able to grab a ticket during the time that they were available. Unfortunately, your options here are limited.

  1. You can sign up to be on the waiting list. We promise to keep you updated about your chances & communicate with you directly via email should a ticket become available for you. Sorry, wait list is now full, with 60+ people now waiting patiently…!
  2. We’ll be giving away a pair of tickets in a drawing at the August meeting of the Portland WordPress User Group. Sorry, tickets have already been given away.
  3. You can sign up as a sponsor, which will get you a ticket (or a few). See more info in the Sponsor section farther down on this page.

Note that we won’t be offering guest passes, media passes, or any other kind of free passes to WordCamp this year (and we won’t look kindly on back-door email groveling, either.) We just don’t want to blow our good karma or infuriate the hordes of people who followed instructions and patiently put themselves on the wait list!

General Info

Who should come to WordCamp?
Anyone who works with WordPress.
Anyone? #Seriously?
Seriously. We’ll have content aimed at authors, developers, designers, and site administrators. If you’re at all involved with blogging or WordPress, you’ll learn something.
I’m brand new! I know nothing! Will I be lost?
Maybe. But probably not. There will be all sorts of information that’s of use to someone just starting out with blogging or WordPress.
I’m an ubercool plugin developer? Should I be there?
Of course. We’ll have advanced sessions as well. Last year we had Viper007Bond and Will Norris in attendance. Come and compare your technical chops.
Where is it? How do I get there?
WordCamp is at the Webtrends offices in downtown Portland (851 SW 6th Ave). Facility information including parking and transit options will be sent to registered attendees prior to the event.

Registration

How do I register?
Go to the registration site, check out the information, and sign up. Update: registration is now closed, as is the wait list.
Do you offer single day / partial day tickets?
No. In order to keep things simple for our (all volunteer) staff and simplify financial management, we only offer one ticket option: $20 for both days.
What if my evil employer forces me to go to Paris on WordCamp weekend? Are tickets refundable? Transferable?
Your employer’s priorities are obviously out of whack. Our condolences. That said, tickets are nonrefundable but can be transferred to another person. Contact Betsy.

Sponsorship

Why does WordCamp need sponsors?
The registration fee ($20 for two full days of conference) covers less than half of the expenses for WordCamp. In order to keep the event affordable and accessible, we seek sponsorships from businesses who are interested in helping the blogging community.
How much does it cost to sponsor?
We have three levels of sponsorship:

  • Contributor ($250): Contributing sponsors receive a link from the sponsors page of our website, thanks from the organizers as part of the opening comments, one complimentary ticket to the event, and exposure to 200+ bloggers and other influential technologists who can spread the word about your company.
  • Gold ($500): In addition to the benefits of Contributor sponsorship, Gold sponsors may also have a company representative address the audience directly for 2-3 minutes during the conference, may provide flyers or other materials to be distributed at one point during the event, and receive a total of two complimentary tickets.
  • Premier ($1000): In addition to all of the benefits of Contributor and Gold sponsorship, Premier sponsors may have their logo featured on the back of the conference T-shirt, will be featured in a dedicated blog post on the conference website which thanks the specific sponsor and includes links to the company name and/or keywords, and receive five complimentary tickets to the event.
What about in-kind sponsorships?
As of 7/31, the only in-kind items we could use would be t-shirt production, lunch food, or morning coffee/snacks. Sponsors of those items will be promoted based on the value of the in-kind contribution.
How about door prizes? I’ve got something great to give away!
If you have a door prize that a blogger would love, let’s talk! We’d love to feature your item and will talk about your donation when we give it away in front of the group.
Sounds great! I’d love to sponsor! Who do I call?
Drop an email to Dale and he’ll work out the details.
