How About a Session On (insert topic here)?
Do you have a WordPress topic on your mind? Have you looked at our list of speakers and sessions and thought “that’s great, but what about ________?” You’re the perfect person to suggest a topic for an unconference session!
The evening at WordCamp will be unconference-style, meaning that it won’t be planned until that day. We’ll offer a bunch of rooms (of varying sizes) and folks can suggest session topics. Maybe it’s something you know about and want to share. Perhaps it’s a blogging topic on your mind and you’d like to chat about it with other folks. A session leader doesn’t need to be an expert, just someone who’s willing to help kick things off and keep things moving in a productive fashion.
I’ve heard rumors that folks are thinking about unconference sessions on things such as moving to WordPress from another platform, neighborhood blogging, and how to develop plugins for the admin interface. Bring your ideas to WordCamp for potential unconference sessions; it’ll be interesting to see which WordPress topics are on everyone’s mind.
WordCamp Portland is Sold Out
A few minutes ago, we reached our registration capacity for WordCamp Portland. A big thanks to everyone who has registered
We are maintaining a waiting list and will accommodate folks as possible if any registered attendees cancel prior to the event.
In the coming days, we’ll be publishing additional details about the event; stay tuned to this blog for last-minute updates.
Less Than 20 Seats Remaining for WordCamp Portland
If you’re on the fence about WordCamp Portland, you should probably make a decision soon. We currently have less than 20 seats remaining before we’ll reach our capacity of 150 attendees and will be closing registration. There are a few registration questions over in the FAQ; if you’re seeking answers be sure to check it out and if you still have questions about registration please leave a comment here.
Registration, Sponsorship, and Session Topics Update
With less than a month until WordCamp Portland, here are a few updates:
Registration has been brisk, with the conference now more than half full. We’ll be capping the attendance at 150. We might be able to squeeze a few more folks into CubeSpace but it would be a squeeze and we want to ensure a good experience for everyone. We’ll be ending advance registration on September 20th or when we reach the 150-person count. If space is still available as of the 20th, we’ll allow walk-up registration on a first-come, first-served basis, but it’ll cost $15 and won’t include a T-shirt. For the best deal and to guarantee your spot, register now.
We’re looking for a couple more sponsors. Thanks to our current sponsors we’re in a pretty good spot financially but we could use a couple more sponsors to help make the event better for everyone. Interested in sponsoring? Drop Kelly a note.
Got an idea for a WordCamp session? That’s what our evening unconference is all about. Come to WordCamp with your idea, whether it’s something you’d like to present or something you’d like to learn. After lunch we’ll give everyone the opportunity to suggest topics and we’ll arrange them into loosely-organized sessions, BarCamp-style.
I’m excited by the great response thus far; WordCamp Portland should be a fun and educational event for all!
